Rebecca Latimer Felton
Rebecca Latimer Felton wasa writer, and a campaigner for the Prgressive Era reforms. She helped end the Convict Lease System and wanted women to sufferage in the United States. Felton was a supporter of white supremecy. Her hard work led to her becoming the first woman in the U.S. Senate.
John Hope
John Hope was a biracial man. He dropped out of school to help support his family, but later graduated from Brown University. He later became a civil rights leader and president of many African American colleges in Atlanta. Atlanta University became the first African American graduate school in the nation under Hope's presidency. Education was not the only thing Hope supported though, he also supported better housing, health care, and job opportunities.
Lugenia Burns Hope
Lugenia Burns also dropped out of school to help support her family. She fought racism and supported interratial cooperation. She met her future husband, John Brown at Brown University in 1893. The two were married in 1897. Hope joined many groups such as The Southern Women for the Prevention of Lynching and The Neighborhood Union. She then becme the first Vice President of the Altanta chapter of the NAACP.
