Booker T. Washington was a teacher and early leader for racial equality. He believed that African Americans
should have a well rounded education and economic strength.He also believed that white and black workers should work together and form equality as the both made up the economy. He reminded the southerners that African American labor had built the wealth of the south and that they should be given a chance to better their lives.

W.E.B DuBois
William Edward Burghardt DuBois was a sociologist, historian, an author and a civil rights leader. He wanted African Americans to have the same educational, social, and political opportunities as other American citizens. He gave several speeches and was an active leader. He was invited to visit Ghana, Africa for its independence celebration in the year 1957, but was not able to go until 1960. He went back and forth between Africa and American until he became a Ghana citizen. After taking residency in Ghana, his health began to wane. DuBois then died in Ghana on August 27, 1963 at the age of 95.
